HD 7770 for $185, HD 7750 $132
With the Cape Verde launch only days away, retailer in Europe and the US have already started jumping the gun and listing some cards.
German retailer Neon24 briefly listed a PowerColor HD 7770 1GB card for €159, but the listing was already pulled. This appears to have been a reference board, 1000MHz GPU clock, 1250MHz memory, and we are not entirely sure about the frame buffer, parts of the listing said it was a 2GB card, but it seems like a 1GB affair after all.
Over the weekend US retailer spilled the beans on two HD 7700 cards from MSI. MSI’s HD 7770 with 1GB of memory is listed at $185.99, while a 1GB version of the HD 7750 should go for $132.99. The latter seems like a very good price indeed.
Although Cape Verde will come nowhere close to Tahiti in terms of performance, AMD is keen to point out that the new HD 7770 is the first card to feature a reference 1GHz clock, out of the box. The company is apparently planning slap “GHz Edition” branding on all future 1GHz+ cards and at this point it looks like AMD has another winner on its hands.
