Souped up Galaxy S4 launches in Korea

Written by Fudzilla staff

LTE Advanced, Snapdragon 800

A South Korean telco has added a new Galaxy S4 SKU to its offer and it looks very impressive to say the least.

SK Telecom is one of the few carriers to dabble in LTE Advanced and the new S4 is the first commercially available Samsung phone to support it. LTE Advanced offers speeds of up to 150Mbps, which is a lot faster than broadband connections in most homes.

The carrier says it will offer seven LTE-A advanced phones this year and it plans to extend coverage to 84 Korean cities. Europe and the US aren’t as lucky, though. LTE is anything but commonplace in Europe and it’s still being rolled out in many countries.

As for the phone, it is said to feature a new SoC as well, a Qualcomm chip clocked at 2.3GHz, which means it’s the Snapdragon 800 quad-core. It is basically the fastest handset on the planet, both in terms of WWAN and CPU muscle.
